Overview
A Genji diptych series printed in high quality and designed over several years. The first prints date from 1857, the most prints were produced in 1858, some in 1859 and four prints I found from 1861. A "normal" Genji series includes 54 prints mostly accompanied by a title or an index page. This series includes only 39 prints, one "opening" print and 38 diptychs. After years of researching I couldn't find any other matching print, so this series never has been completed. Not all prints are counted/named "correctly". Some chapter numbers were mixed up or used twice and even one chapter name has been used twice.
